Spoke to Gene at the PPE. He said to expect a letter in the next 2-3 weeks requesting your deposit. He also said that they are close to engineering the final chip necessary to make to boards. |

Interesting. Last week I spoke with the person who is loaning their Kingpin to Gene for him to use in the production work, and was told Gene had not picked up the game yet. |

I actually played THE KP that Gene will be picking up over at Mike's place, since he lives 10 minutes from my workplace. Groovy game! I had signed up for the remake before even playing it. _________________ --Rick. |

I think Gene has got all paperwork (plans, drawings, whatever..) when we bought the rights from Capcom, so he just needs the machine for the assembling.
Correct me, if i'm not right.

I seem to recall someone saying that Kingpin did not have as many "final" engineering drawings as Big Bang did. If that's correct, there is probably more "measure and re-draw" work required for Kingpin than for Big Bang. |

any news? getting sick of waiting and wondering. tempted to spend the deposit money on a spiderman instead. How long should we wait before giving up? If it takes too damn long how many that signed up will still actually put down deposits? |

I'd love to be picking my game up tomorrow, but I'm also enjoying thee wait and anticipation, just like I did with BBB. Having said that, would be nice to hear that it was green-lighted, here's hoping. _________________ Vegemite Nick BBB (and hopefully KP) #123 |

I'm working on getting an official update.
In the mean time, it sounds like they have one major hurdle that they are still working on - an obsolete chip needed to complete the board-sets. I *think* this issue is being worked from several angles, with the hope that at least one will pan out as a viable solution. I *think* it could be a few months before they have a verified answer on that chip. I *believe* that once they know that they can make all the boards and stay within budget, then things will proceed rapidly. If not, we'll be told that it is a dead project unless and until a solution becomes available.
Since the entire KP project will be coordinated/handled by the guy that (probably did the lion's share of and) finished up BBB, I *suspect* that KP will get done rather quickly once it is green lighted. 8-12 months from deposit to shipment would not surprise; longer than that would surprise me.
Just to make it clear, the above are my opinions and hunches.
When I manage to get something more official, I will post a new thread. |

Hopefully not.
If the board issue remains the major hurdle, i still vote for a conversation kit.
A populated playfield with translite and a set of cabinet decals will do it.
I have another Airborne in bad condition in stock, that will do it anyway!
