I do a full clear and set the new denomination to 5 cents, select my games and when I reboot it goes back to 25 cents. If I look in the diagnostic it shows that it is a invalid denomination was entered.I've tried this with all the other denominations with no luck.I just got this machine so I'm still quite new at this.Any idea what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks
Kelley

Changing denominations is a little more involved than just doing a Safe Clear if you're expecting to use a different coin. You'd need to change the hopper (or modify the hopper for that type of coin), change the coin entry plate and put a new coin in the comparitor. Unless you just want 20 credits per $1 and still use quarter coins.

As for it not actually changing, it sounds like someone may have installed an EPROM or PROM on your peripheral memory board instead of an EEPROM. Once programmed externally, an EPROM or PROM cannot be changed within the Odyssey. The correct type of chip, an EEPROM (Electrically Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory) can be modified by the Odyssey directly.

There should be a chip labelled 165-0030 on the peripheral memory board that is an Atmel 28C010-12PC. Look at http://www.robertwinter.com/slot/odyssey/tech_bios.html for reference.

That must be it.I have a 27c040 in that spot.I'll try the 28c010 and see if it works.
Thanks

A 27C040 will definitely cause the problem as you described.

Once you install a 28C010, do a Safe Clear with switches 4 and 6 at the same time.
