Sweet!
Maybe the next poll should be "Who wants to take delivery in February?"!!! ;-)

Those Pictures I took last Thursday and yesterday Friday. This is the first playfield with top pieces. Fred calls this a test playfield. Basically we're checking the fit of everything and make sure we have all the parts for the assemblies. There are many assemblies on the top. These pictures show things in various states. All of the plastics fit as advertised so far and everything looks good. Alot of time has been spent finding all the little pieces and the right size rivets etc . . . its time consuming. For some reason Capcom used many different screws for the top. So far its like 20 different screws . . . Every one has to be found and then organized for the next step. I'm putting some poster boards together to show the various stages of layout.
So this is the time I ask for volunteers to help out. If you have time and inclination and want to be a part of BBB history and want to see first hand "whats up with that" you can volunteer to come out for a while and help out. Many sub-assemblies need to be built and rubber kits put together and plastics punched out of sheets etc. _________________ Kerry Stair

Volunteers need to contact Fred next week starting monday afternoon. Fred will most likely be the point of contact for volunteers. Obviously too many guys at a time will strain things and we need to make sure we have things lined up for volunteers to do. but any addition to the work force helps get things done faster. Unfortunately at this time there is NO compensation for this work other then Thanks ! and you get to brag you were apart of the history of making these things

When I talked to Gene about this, he indictated that he had an apartment ready for the volunteers. |

Kerry - Fred who, and how do we contact him?
Also, could you share some of the geography? For example, if I were to fly into O'Hare, where do I go from there, and what transportation options are available?
How long do you think you'll need volunteers? It's possible I could make it out in early March, but February is booked solid at work.

Kerry,
The 'ol BBB's are looking pretty sweet!! Those ramps look awesome!
I was under the impression that the assemblies were at the assemblers for assembly? (Say that fast 3 times!)
Are the bottoms now being cranked out or are they on hold until a test playfield is totally completed and tested?
Are all the cabinets totally done (rails, transformers, wiring, buttons, etc.)?
Any pieces missing so far? (man, there must be a million!)
How much longer do you estimate before we get a completed top?
How come Gene doesn't want to hire a few more folks to help with the builds and assemblies? (I don't see how you three (or 4) can do this all without going insane!)
I was hoping for a May or June delivery. Now I'm wondering if it may be late fall or winter............
Thanks for the answers! Chin up!!! _________________ Mike

Holy crap....that playfield looks freakin' beautiful. (My NIB Simpsons didn't even look that nice).
So...can we schedule our "volunteer" time? I may have a few days Feb 20-24th that would be free...
Later!

Because the project is already way over budget, if I understand correctly. You can't expect Gene to spend even more of his own dollars on this. We will be getting a machine which has actually cost more to build than what we paid for it. So I hope that enough members who live nearby will offer to help. |

How do you know this ?
I thought it had to do with skilled persons. At this point, there just aren't reliable people who've been with the project long enough- hiring some knuckleheads off the street (even ones familiar with pinballs), couldn't possibly convey the knowledge and insight necessary to produce 183 flawless copies... _________________

Myself and a friend that also has a BBB reserved would like to help.
We will fly into Chicago and drive down.
If you have someplace to put us up fine, if not we will egt a cheap hotelroom.
Unfortunately we can only commit to all day and evening on a Friday and all day Saturday and possibly Sunday.
Please give us Fred's contact info so we can coordinate times. _________________ BBB #2 |
