I would go with a complete assembly or the rings separate. Either way. |

Hello Kim & Gene,
As you know there is a great deal of interest in adding the Tube Rings on the BBB.
I recently discovered, from this post, many are interested in an additional Tube and/or Tube w/ Rings installed. I want to make sure that we are not interferring with anything you have rights too or if you're going to be making any of those as add on items.
BTW: I'm not benifiting financially in any way. I'm just a Pinball Hobbyist who has 20+ games most with simple mods. Please let me know.
Thanks Kerry Richard #111 |

Kerry, I'd recommend you give Kim a call regarding your questions about the modded tube; there's no guarantee that she'll see your post.

Kerry - it's in the "Forum Administration and Announcements" section.

Count me in for a tube with rings and hardware, or a tube with rings, or just rings, whichever is easiest. Then all I will need is my game to put it in! |

Count me in also, for the complete tube & rings assembly, or just the rings if the complete set isn't offered.
Perhaps you should throw in the glitter paper and call it a BBB Upgrade Kit.

Yuck; that's too far toward the tacky end of mods. I can see the designers adding the tube rings, but the glitter paper is just a "pimp out the boss's machine" exercise.

I think the glitter paper is original design, not a mod... |

I think you're correct here, Tony, as I examined the "boss's machine" when I bought another of the original BBBs from a Capcom employee years ago. He explained to me the glitter paper and the rings were an experiment along with a flat square of green lucite that covered the top of the head--for what reason I couldn't figure as you could only see the edge of it as it stood upright.
I was told that this particular machine was the only one of the 14 that had these "mods".
Having played many games without them, I feel sticking rings all the way up and down the tube has no artistic design sense and would only serve to block your view of the ball when it's rolling inside. Maybe grouping 2 rings 2 or 3 times along the tube would look better (think of the way the Jetsons use the concept of rings).
But definitely, "pimp" is the operative word here... |

I spoke to both Kim & Gene this morning.
TUBE RINGS ARE COMING!
Gene said they have 3 different colors to choose from AND 2 different styles.
1) Circular rings that slide onto the tube and,
2) “U” shaped that slide over the top of the tube.
He said they were going to offer these as an option after all the games were done and delivered.
In addition, he said they weren’t or didn’t have any intention on offering an additional tube or tube/ring combo.
I’m glad I called. I had no idea Gene was even interested in this ad-on option. The “Tube Ring” posts / conversations have been plentiful and around for about a year.
However, This is good news. It just gives us more new options to consider.
Thanks

Have you told Cliffy? A heads up now would be worthwhile before he makes an investment into this and then gets left holding while we are left with split allegiances. Cliffy is great, and it would be unfair for him to invest in this when we owe it to IPB/PMI to support their version given what the machines will **owe** them.
Regards

You bet I did...I forwarded this info to him as soon as I hung up with Gene.
Cliffy is a great guy and he stepped up to the plate to offer the group some cool mods.
