It's been two (2) weeks since the last update. Since then there's only been no pictures and only scant reports of negative progress.
Does anyone have any news about the BBB project ? Weren't a couple of you more enterprising investors taking a trip to PMI right around now ? Any news would appreciated. _________________

It has only been 2 weeks, not much can happen in 2 weeks
Monthly updates would be better.
The more updates the longer it is going to take. |

I am with Wayne on this one. Once a month is fine. Plus, Kim has been giving some small tidbits. They are still trying to get the kinks worked out on all the parts that the assembly company needs and she is continuing to inventory and separate parts.

careful, you're going to get hit with a stick
Getting the playfield assembled is a huge task, almost more so than just getting the parts on hand to do it. So I know that it will take a lotta time to complete. AND since STERN does their playfield assembling on site we'll be dealing with people who have never assembled pinball machines before.
Scarry eh? IMHO i'm along for the ride for as long as it takes and given the hurdles that have been overcome so-far we're gonna make it. As long as there is work being done behind the scenes and we just get verbal updates i'll be ok. although it would be nice to throw us a bone now and then
Looks like Gene is not going to be at EXPO this year and he's not going to be attending shows untill BBB is complete so we're probably looking at December at the earliest?

Negative reports? It was my understanding that you wanted to know what is going on.
The reason it may sound negative is that we don't know where the bc guys
were concerning these parts, we definitely have a different approach to organizing parts then what they were using, so we are asking questions, touching base with suppliers and the assembly companies and moving forward. We just want to make sure we have everything no last minute surprises, which we have had a few.
Gene brings home more cabinets everytime he comes back from chicago
The assy company is getting my list together of what is completed.
We are compiling a list of what may still be needed or not.
The plastics company is bending the plastics and will have the plastic sets ready to pick up late next week if everything goes right.
If I don't post often it is because i just try to do small updates as things happen and if nothing major is happening then nothing to post. While i am not the only person working on this project i am the only one who has the computer to post.
Did i miss the list of what i am suppose to look for on the cabinets/decals?
Just so you don't think we are slacking by tonite when i go home i will have put in 55 hrs and i didn't even work Mon.
Am i suppose to start a new thread everytime i post an update even if it is just a small insert?

I'm with Craig on this one Kim. Most of us don't need weekly updates. Once a month would be nice with some pics or whenever you get something good. Verbal updates now and then would also be nice. You've got better things to do then babysit us.
The way I see it, you guys have been more then kind to allow us to even be involved in this whole process. In return, we should let you do your job.
As Craig said, most of us are happy with a bone (pun intended) tossed our way, now and then.
Now get back to work. _________________ Bryan Kelly Former BBB #123 |

I think Kronis should provide us with a daily update of his day for a week or two... maybe then he will gain some understanding.
Micromanage... kronismanage... hmmmmm
Kronis... please take this in jest... not trying to raise your ire... just pokin fun.
Kim... as always... you guys are great and give us an update when YOU want to.
Everybody have a great weekend... here in MN we must really hang on to these end of summer ones... as that white stuff is just around the corner.
Be well.

Three of the missing parts (minor) were ordered today and will be here next week. 3 less headaches. one of these parts is needed to finish an assembly so 4 less headaches. probably doesn't sound like much but for me it's a big deal
One of the guys getting a machine helped with these parts so a big thanks to ...

Surely, I can do this, but I think you'd become bored quite fast, and perhaps even a little sickened. Friday: "Flea-dipping the dog...", Saturday: "Lay down laminate flooring in my dad's house while listening to him bitch about Bush...", and so on-

I think this is where I take exception. Negative updates are fine, Kim. But when you post of "missing hardware", it's even more nebulous and vague than not hearing anything at all. Being closer to the project, I don't expect updates and information on the order of Bob & Steve (we really ragged those guys for tidbits sometimes).
Truly, I believe the project is progressing and will ultimately be completed to a high degree of quality, but we are rapidly approaching two ominous, if somewhat disturbing milestones: one year since project began (November), and one year since original "promised" date (March). No firm timeline for completion is fine even at this point, but I'm becoming a little disheartened at no word on even the first test prototype.
Am I wrong to despair ? Okay, feel free to hit me with a stick now... _________________

NO stick just please realize that stepping into a project of this magnitude that was not organized in a way that i understood is quite time consuming
and since the parts weren't all down in the pmi building and organized by part numbers we are getting this organized while the assy. are being made. There are parts missing that we are tracking down and ordering.
The time frame was rather ambitious(sp) know how long it takes to get a quality wms part made from people that did it all the time.
The quality that we have tried to maintain has at times possibly slowed the project, the small runs have definitely slowed the project and certain companies just being jackasses have definitely screwed things up.
But we continue to move forward everyday but like you (kronis) said some days it's just a flea dip for the dog.
Does anyone know from start to finish how long does it take Stern to produce a machine?
There hollering for me again so i gotta go help!
Everybody have a safe weekend i read you on Monday

I'm not sure how long it takes for machines to be built total, but they are producing 55+ a day currently. Now granted, they have a "Whole Heap" of people making them. They assemble things in stations and parts meet up with other parts at different points. It's pretty facinating actually. I'll put the offer out to anyone who wants a copy of last year's tour at Expo on DVD, contact me at al@alsarcade.com - Kim, send me an address and I'll pop you one for free along with another video you might be interested in...

Perhaps some folks were expecting pictures of a cabinet with decals applied? The 8/27 update thread from Kim alluded to this, and that there were some pictures taken of said cabinet that would be posted after Labor Day.
