If they burn out quickly, here's the answer from TOG:

The backbox lights are supposed to be #906 bulbs. Some of these were built wrong early on, but most of them have been changed. When they are burned, just change them & the flash for a long time.

actually I have never seen the backbox flashers flash. Maybe a silly question, but do they flash when the tube in the backbox is turned off? |

I don't think that the tube has to do something with the flashers.
I was also not aware that there are flashers until i opened the backbox. As yours is an early/european one, maybe you also have the wrong bulbs in it (like in my guest). A little bit tricky to get them out, but the 906 should last.

Please check the backbox lights and ensure #906 bulbs are installed.

I've seen them flash during attract mode and during Tubedancer modes. TOG informs me that the left one flashes independantly and that the right one is tied to the lights that light up the TD on the playfield. |
