Sometimes after a day, sometimes aftre 2 months, my BBB looses it's HS'

I know this has been discussed and earlier software suggested but has there been a permanent fix found?

I also recently was able to buy an NOS cpu for this game. Are the batteries that save the HS' on the CPU? Can these be changed? Might this solve my problem?
