Well another afternoon working on BBB playfields and the testing is going well. Some minor glitches are to be expected but overall as anticipated. I gotta tell you its really cool to boot the game and watch the light pattern on the brand new playfield.
If things go as anticipated and several finished under playfields end up in Bloomington at the end of this week then top build out will be started next week. I expect we'll run into a few glitches but all the huddles are being overcome one at a time
Personally seeing the first one light up and play will be exceptionally cool. Kudos to Gene, Kim, Fred and the others for their hard work !! _________________ Kerry Stair

Thanks for the update Kerry. It's nice to hear things are progressing and things are lighting up as expected. That's a BIG step!
Looking forward to any pics when you get a chance. _________________ Robert

Yeah.. very nice news! Heck, once the topside build is done, those prototype/sample/whatever machines are essentially done, right? Drop it in one of the cabs that are prepared, cross fingers and flip the switch? :) |

There won't be any crossing of the fingers. It'll be a done deal at that point. I can't stress enough that everything is being thoroughly tested and tried and double checked before power even gets within the same vicinity Nothing to chance !!
Perfect the first time is the thing we're shooting for !!!!!!

It is great to hear about the progress, really does have to be a thrill to see that all the hard work, planning and testing is paying off. Is Fred the "other guy"?
Thanks for the update, post some pics if you get a chance.

I was going to ask if you had a working playfield yet but I really thought the question would be a little old. Great report Kerry! Seeing the quality of your work first hand really gave me an awesome feeling about this project. You guys are really Top notch! The world will be amazed and humbled!

Sounds like they're close to a working playfield... I would think topside assy would be easier than underside, since you're just putting parts on and not fooling with the harness... However, I've not had the opportunity to do a strip-down shopping of a BBB yet so can't say for sure :) |
