Hi guys, I understand that the machines coming to Au are set up for US spec voltage, and that we'll need to change a few things for our 240 v 50 Hz system here.
These are the things I've ascertained, but as for specs for the replacements I'm not sure:
Varister - change to 275 volt - amperage?
Ballasts - one for each of the translite fluro and "blacklight"? - specs?
Set jumpers for relevant voltage for the primary transformer.
Any comments appreciated. _________________ Vegemite Nick #123 |

Hey,
I didn't change the varistor, nor the ballasts. Varistor might be necessary, but the ballasts work anyway.
I just set the jumpers correct. _________________ Bye

You should check the temperature of the ballasts after they have been on for an hour or so. If you don't want to leave your hand on them, they may cause problems later!
A while back, I aquired a oscilloscope from Europe. Did some checking on the transformer. The engineers basicly said that it's a heat dissapation issue. There is more mass in a lower frequency device to remove the heat created. If it's made for 50Hz, it should work for 60Hz, but not always the other way around...
Keep a close eye on that as we don't need any excess heat in your bars! _________________ "BBB 77" |
