Okay guys, here it is - the first set of update pictures! As Kim stated, these are their first attempt so please be gentle! Quoted text is directly from Kim.
Kim - "That of course is Gene (with great-grandson) standing in front of the cabinets. He is so happy and relieved to have them made. The heads are there too."
"The pictures of the PMI warehouse are to show the different boxes of parts and to explain what Mom and I are doing between 6:00 – 8:00 in the morning. As you can see by looking around a lot of parts were still on pallets and had not been unpacked. We are also running into parts that have the manufacturer’s part number instead of bbb’s so those need to be matched to prints. Since I wasn’t involved in ordering all of the pieces it’s a bit of a challenge."
"It definitely looks unorganized now but by the end of next week it will be in pretty good shape, if Mom’s back holds out.:>) I guess the guys that are coming may not have to wear their work clothes after all."
"I don’t have an update on the underside of the playfield. Hopefully I will know something next week."
"Well that about it hope you enjoy the pictures. Thanks to Kati and Robert for getting the pictures on the forum. Kim" |

wonderful update and pictures. Periodic posting of this type of progress info will most certainly contribute to a positive and stress-free adventure for all who put their faith in Gene for this project. Bravo.

Parts is parts... no, not when they're BBB parts! Woo Hoo. Love the pic of great grand dad and especially the one resting on the cabs... a man and his mission! Kim, these are great... thanks for sharing... especially to the older "model" for making this happen. What a ride...

I think it's fantastic to finally have cabinets but am I the only one that's not overly impressed with the look? I'm hoping it's just the way the pics were taken.
I realize the front and sides get decals but the finish appears rather rough. Looks to me like there'll have to be a bit of prep work done before the decals are applied.
And the finish on the backs of both the cab and head don't look very uniform.
I'm also taking for granted there'll be no text silk-screened on the backs of anything.
Please tell me I'm seeing things, Kim. _________________ Bryan Kelly Former BBB #123 |

I don't know specifics about the finish but I would hope that the non-decalled parts of the cabinet do get a final paint coat. It looks like they only have a sealer coat on them.
Kim did tell me there is no silk screening. _________________ Robert

The finish isn't "smooth" but with the thickness of the decal this should not be a problem. I'll know more next week.
