What To Look For When Buying A Machine
|
SOLUTION - There is a small spring that is located on the upper left of the coffin hinge. This spring is either broken or missing. Although I've never personally replaced this spring, it looks to be a fairly involved process, as you must remove the hinge pin to accomplish this replacement. The following step are a general outline as given by Chris Werfel
SYMPTOM - Balls do not eject from the coffin properly SOLUTION - (as per the WMS Service Bulletin) Be sure you are using game ROM 1.3 or later, this software rev. has enhanced ball search and coffin trough logic that will solve most eject misfires. Check to see that the body plate part# 04-10420 pivots freely. If the game clears multiple balls but has trouble with the last ball, the eject plunger and coil need to be aligned with the tube leading upwards in to the coffin, most often this is solved by adding a thin washer between the top coil mounting bracket part# 01-9794 and the popper assy. weldment part# 04-10349, alternately the washer can be added to the lower coil mounting bracket to move the plunger the other direction if necessary.
SYMPTOM - Coffin does not 'lock' balls properly or Coffin Multiball only plays 2 balls SOLUTION - Check the ball trough optos and the trough itself for divots where the balls rest. If divots are found, file them as flat as possible.
SYMPTOM - Cannot remove ramp that goes around the coffin. SOLUTION - Take the back of the playfield off to remove the beast ramp, remove the flat plastics around the ramp and coffin, remove all the coffin mountings, then remove the coffin and ramp by sliding the whole thing to the left with the playfield at about 45 degrees.
